What's the deal with porno?

I'm the first to say that porno can be cool. But most of it isn't. This isn't some crazy puritantical "lust is evil!" bullshit. I like lust, lust is great. But so is affection. I guess what disturbs me is the whole lowest common denominator element. There's all kinds of fucked up power issues. Not only does every scene center around the guy getting off (ever seen a segment end with a female orgasm and no money shot?) but the way women are treated is usually fucked up. I'm not saying that porn degrades women inherently, that's stupid. I'm saying that the way a lot of porn plays out, it's less about 2(+) people having fun, and more about feeling superior to that stupid bitch at the bar who wouldn't let you fuck her yeah I'll show you TAKE IT IN THE ASS YOU WHORE! YEAH!!! COMING ALL OVER YOUR FACE!!!

And that ain't cool.

The other thing that weirds me out is gonzo porn. See, amateur I understand, the thrill there is seeing some chick having sex on camera who doesn't usually do that, so there doesn't need to be any kind of fictional layer there to get you more into it. But in gonzo it's a bunch of professionals, people being paid well, with no plot, and a lot of sex. The weird thing is, suddenly there's this weird ass layer of fiction. Cause the fiction is "we're a bunch of hot and horny porn stars and we can't wait to fuck each other!" but the reality is "we're a bunch of porns stars and we can't wait to finish this shoot and go home." Is the denominator really that low? I mean, it establishes that there either needs to be an inherent thrill (amateur) or just smile and pretend you want to be here. I mean, even in gonzo, the girls fake screams. So there is some kind of requirement for the mass market. I'm sure some people would enjoy movies where a dead eyed girl walked in, disrobed and looked blankly at the camera while a guy fucked her, but that's not the standard yet.

Why does america demand so little from it's erotic film? Part of the problem is the whole puritanical history again. We're all afriad of sex because it's dirty and sinful, so if our porn is dirty, it doesn't really bother us. It should though. Stand up for yourselves America! Demand worth while porno! WE DESERVE BETTER.
