Evolution of the human body is one of the most magnificent things out there. It doesn't stop being amazing when it leaves the human form, and goes on to other creatures, it just becomes less impressive. The idea that something else can change, to fit its surroundings is trivial. The idea that we ourselves could do the same thing is astonishing. We have done it for centuries, and we'll continue to do it. For example, most people being born now, lack wisdom teeth as they are not needed, also our appendixes are significantly smaller since we now know what we can and cannot eat. It seems we are improving, becoming more efficiant and removing the unneeded, or at least downsizing them. Sort of like what we do with technology, making everything smaller, fitting on a chip a person could not hold without the aid of a microscope and tweezers. But while everyone is noticing the positives, I sit in my corner with a grin. I am noticing how our pathetic consumer driven race is evolving itself it to weak, and dependant creatures. What's to blame for this step, no scratch that, gigantic leap back in evolution? Well, that's simple; Drugs. Not your typical drug scare either, I'm not talking about the dangers of taking heroin, or the harrowing side effects of PCP. I'm talking about the 'civilized societys' disgusting, gluttonous addiction to typical pharmacuticals. Ibuprofen (That's Advil you product minded robot), Acetaminophen (Tylenol), and Aspirin (Bayer). We feed these to our children and selves like they are fucking candy. Headache? Take some medicine. Does your stomach hurt? Take some medicine. Do you need to wake up early tomorrow? Better take some fucking medicine to fall asleep. Is your throat a little scratchy? Well golly gee, I suggest some medicine. And now, when you reach the age of 25 your body is so dependant on medicine that influenza (the flu) can kill you. Unless of course you take the proper medicine. Your immune system is like a muscle. Let's say for example it's your arm, and medicine, well that's a robotic arm. Now say for your whole life, rather than using your arm to open a door or move a twenty pound object, you rather effortlessly used the robotic arm. Now in your mid-twenties the robotic arm breaks, and you have to lift a ten pound object. Do you really think that muscle is going to be strong enough to fend for itself? Fuck no. The same way that you use medicine to get rid of germs for you, rather than build up the strength of your immune system, you are letting that muscle become utterly useless. And what happens when the body thinks something is useless for a couple of generations? I believe it attempts to irradicate such a thing, i.e. wisdom teeth, or appendix. The appendix used to be a major part of the human digestive system, storing away items ingested that are bad for the body, like rocks and sticks. But now that we are smarter via trial and error, we've had no use for such a thing. Now the appendix is defined as "A supplementary part of a bodily organ." Well shit, I bet a couple thousand years ago such a thing would be deemed as a vital organ. So now what with all the modern medicine, to make you eat more, or less, or smile, or poop easier, or cough less, or cure obscure genital diseases, do you really think that over the courses of time the human body will see it's own immune system as still being vital? Well I don't. And to tell you the truth, I couldn't be any fucking happier. I beg you, please continue swallowing 8 tablets of Acetaminophen a day. Not only will you ruin the immune systems of the future, but also your throat. Drugs and humans, together we can build a weaker world!
